This simple overview will demystify the world of antiques, revealing the elegant forms and equations prevalent throughout Europe and the Americas. I will detail the underlying principles of design and terminology that will help you to navigate any antique store, show or auction house and help you to identify the time period and styles of all the furniture you see dating from 1700 to 1820.
This discussion will cover a plentitude of important information about art collection. Beginning with the personal and cultural trends which influence collecting fine art, I will then investigate how to choose an original work of art, as well as provide suggestions for how to create a collection of fine art. I plan to talk about the best ways to incorporate fine art into the home and personal environment. Framing, conservation and caring for fine art will be discussed as well. And finally, I will share my thoughts on promoting arts awareness in the community through arts education. Examples of appropriate choices of original art will be shown based on these suggestions.
